Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim on Saturday addressed a series of pressing civic issues, stating that the state government is actively tackling illegal construction, environmental violations, and political efforts aimed at disrupting urban development. Speaking firmly, he assured that encroachments will be dealt with strictly and that administrative machinery is working as per law.
He further alleged that certain groups are trying to spread “rumours and conspiracies” to derail the city’s developmental progress. “We are committed to the people of Kolkata. No false propaganda will stop our work,” Hakim said, adding that such attempts are politically motivated.
The mayor also emphasized that the administration respects court directives. “We are following judicial orders with full sincerity,” he said, while reiterating the government's focus on sustainable urban growth and environmental accountability.
Hakim appealed for cooperation from citizens and cautioned against falling prey to misinformation. He added that divisive politics must not be allowed to interfere with civic responsibilities or the wellbeing of the city.
